03 / FAQ
AnyPS5 frequently asked questions
Is AnyPS5 a PS5 emulator for PC?
The upstream project describes AnyPS5 as an executable porting tool. Its relinker converts the executable and bundled modules to the target operating system’s native format, and replacement libraries provide the system functions they call. The converted program runs as an ordinary process; this does not guarantee that every game works.
Do I need a PS5 console?
You do not need a PS5 connected while running a converted game on your computer. You still need your own game dump with a clean ELF executable, its bundled modules and game resources. Preparing those files is separate from running AnyPS5; downloading the tools alone does not supply them.
Where do the games come from? Are ROMs included?
You must supply your own game dump; the downloads contain tools and replacement libraries, not games or ROMs. The relinker requires clean ELF input and does not directly accept a SELF container. These community sites do not distribute games, firmware or keys, or provide an online conversion service.
Can I use an M1 Mac or another Apple silicon Mac?
The converter can produce Mach-O/Rosetta output, but v0.1.3 ships no Mac runtime. Integration PR #7332 closed unmerged on 20 October. Its pinned Apple-silicon experiments remain branch results, including later local Lana tests; closure is not a merge or a released runtime. No general Mac requirements or nativeARM gameplay are established.
